The concept of this logo is inspired by a spiral staircase indicating our faith-journey pointing onward and upward, i.e. pressing on to the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
The meaning of the colours are:
RED - We start off being washed in the blood of Jesus.
PURPLE - Represents royalty, we are called to be a royal priesthood.
BLUE - Colour of earth, we are sent to the world.
Founded on 17th September 1985, Gateway Christian Fellowship (GCF) is a non-denominational, evangelical church based in the historical city of Melaka.
VISION STATEMENT
EQUIP the people of Gateway in recognizing God's call on their lives, and to fulfill the call as a family of God in these 3 areas:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived from the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, who suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, descended into hell, rose again from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, who will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.
WE VALUE GROWTH IN KNOWING AND LOVING GOD AND HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST, THROUGH THE AGENCY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
John 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” 2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” The supreme goal in life is to know and love this great God. He is the “treasure hidden in a field” and “a pearl of great price” who causes those who find Him to give up all to follow Him. We view the pursuit of this goal as a life-long journey.
WE VALUE THE REGULAR PRACTICE OF PRIVATE DEVOTIONS
Job 23:12 “... I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food” Matthew 14:23 “And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. ...” We value the regular private habit of reading the scriptures, praising and praying as a valuable means to carry out the pursuit of knowing God.
WE VALUE THE SCRIPTURES AS THE FINAL AUTHORITY ON ALL ISSUES OF LIFE
2 Tim 3:16 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,” We view Scriptures as God’s word for man to live by and all other opinions and philosophies of human wisdom are to be measured with God’s truth.
WE VALUE FAMILY UNITS IN THE CHURCH
Ephesians 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, We believe that the family is the basic building block for the church and the society. The order of husband and wife living out faithfully their marriage vows, the children honouring their parents and the godly nurture of children by parents is the undergirding structure for families to build mutual loving relationships.
WE VALUE BUILDING THE CHURCH AS A FAMILY
Ephesians 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, We believe that God the Father is the same father over the natural family and the church family and therefore, we prioritize the building of the church as a family. The elements of commitment between elders/leaders and members and mutual love amongst the members are prioritized.
WE VALUE THE LEAST AND THE LAST OF THE MEMBERS
Matthew 25:40 “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ 1 Cor 12:23 “and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty,” The least and the last of our members by way of natural gifts or human attainments are held in the same as if not greater honour than those who are prominent.
WE VALUE INTEGRITY AND EXCELLENCE
1 Cor 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” We value doing our work in the family, the church and at the work place as unto the Lord and doing them well.
WE VALUE THE LOST
Matthew 28: ... All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” 1 Cor 9:22 “To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak, I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.” We value sharing Christ with the lost in winsome and Christ-attracting ways. We do not limit our means to reach the lost, be it in pre-evangelism or direct evangelism, as long as they can display the love of God for people. We value missions to the lost in near and far away places.
